Doug Williams Named Labor Person of The Year
Local 50’s Doug Williams was recently honored by being chosen United Way Labor Person of the Year. Doug has led efforts for IBEW for many years in helping members of our community in times of need through charitable contributions to United Way. His most successful endeavor was the Local Union 50 Rockfish Tournament which was held for 7 years and had a large number of participants each year, raising thousands of dollars for the community.
Tonya Canty (United Way) recently visited our Highland Springs, VA office and attended a meeting of the Executive Board and presented Doug (second from left) with a plaque and the trophy for Labor Union of the Year.
“Doug has a genuine heart for helping members of our community, which he does with a humble spirit. Having worked with Doug for many years I have always been amazed at his tireless charitable outreach.”, said Brad Stevens, President of Local 50.
